A growing number of users on the Apple Support Communities, MacRumors discussion forums and social media have reported issues with the iPad Pro becoming unresponsive after being charged for a lengthy amount of time, forcing affected users to perform a hard restart to turn the device back on.

Count me among them. This happened to me twice on Saturday. Hopefully whatever the issue is can be fixed with a software update.

Update: Installing the 9.2 beta (currently beta 3) seems to have fixed this for me–at least for now.

Not much to add to yesterday’s post so far, but I wanted to make note of the battery life. I used the iPad Pro all day at work yesterday, a little bit when I got home, and an hour this morning so far and my battery is still at 55%. Awesome.

Back when the iPad Pro was announced, both Miranda and I were interested in possibly replacing our laptops with it. Well, yesterday we took the plunge and I picked up one for each of us.

Here are some quick observations after using one for the past day:

  • First, the obvious–this iPad is HUGE. We were both pretty surprised at how big it actually is. That said, I was even more surprised at how little it weighs. Looking at it, I expected something around the weight of a laptop when I picked it up, but was pleasantly surprised when it wasn’t.

  • iOS 9’s multitasking is amazing on the big screen. I can have Coda open on one side and Safari open on the other and preview what I’m working on immediately without having to switch apps or windows. It’s going to be a huge timesaver for me.

  • The software keyboard tweaks are pretty sweet. A number row was added to the top (see below), which is convenient. Now I just have to ignore 8 years of muscle memory in order to use it :)

One thing that was kind of a bummer was that we couldn’t get Pencils yesterday. I ordered two today, but they won’t be here until right before Christmas. Miranda is really looking forward to getting her hands on one.

As for keyboards, we’re both sticking with our Logitech Keys-to-Go keyboards for now. They work fine and are comfortable to type on, so we’ll keep those for a while.

I’ve recently started making my way through my backlog of iOS games, and Home – A Unique Horror Adventure by Benjamin Rivers Inc. is the latest game I’ve finished.

From the App Store description:

Home is a unique horror adventure set in a beautifully-realized pixel world. It’s a murder mystery with a twist–because you decide what ultimately happens.

As with Space Age, I bought Home shortly after it came out. I started playing through it a few times but never spent the time to finish it, so I thought I’d give it another go. I’m glad I did.

The gameplay is simple–you explore the world and discover clues in order to solve a murder. There are no enemies to fight and your character can’t die, but the story is interesting and the pixel art is beautiful.

The game itself is relatively short–it can be finished in one sitting if you’re determined–but the replayability value is high if you’d like to see all of the outcomes since the ending varies depending on your choices.

If you have a couple of hours to spare and are looking for something interesting to play, I recommend checking it out.

Home – A Unique Horror Adventure is $2.99 and is available on the App Store.

I know that I’m way late to the party, but I just got around to playing and finishing Space Age: A Cosmic Adventure by Big Bucket Software even though I bought it almost a year ago when it was released.

Space Age is a game of cosmic adventure. Set in the retro-futuristic sci-fi world of 1976, it follows a small but determined band of intergalactic explorers who land on a seemingly uninhabited planet, Kepler-16. They soon discover there’s something both strange and familiar about this alien place…And what happens next is a clash of old and new, a battle of past mistakes and future fallout.

It’s an incredibly fun adventure game that–to be honest–was more difficult than I expected it to be. I’m not a hardcore iOS gamer by any stretch (though I’m starting to play more and more), but this game was a lot of fun and I absolutely recommend it if you like pixel art and challenging gameplay.

Space Age is $2.99 and is available on the App Store.

Next up in my backlog: Home – A Unique Horror Adventure.

  • Live Photos are amazing and are going to change the way memories are captured.
  • 3D Touch is pretty neat and makes accessing things faster.
  • The new camera is great. I just wish the 6s had the same image stabilization that the 6s+ has.
  • Touch ID is FAST. Sometimes I find it’s almost too fast if I want to just quickly check to see what song is playing or the time, so I’ll probably end up training myself to use the power button instead of the home button for that.
  • It’s a slightly heavier than the iPhone 6.

Overall I’m extremely pleased with the upgrade.
